    Course Description Discover the world of 3D design in this hands-on introduction to 3D printing! Students will learn the basics of 3D structure, design thinking, and creative problem-solving as they draw and build real objects in three dimensions. From simple shapes to custom creations, this class turns imagination into tangible art—one layer at a time. Logistics Students will go directly to the after school class when dismissed at the end of the school day. Please REMIND your student when they have an after school class. The instructor will walk students out for parent pick-up or check them in to KTC at the end of each class. Students are welcome to bring a labelled water bottle and a snack if desired.   • Babysitting Basics

    Course Description: The Babysitting Basics course from the American Red Cross gives participants a foundation on which to build a babysitting business. Designed for new babysitters, this course delivers information clearly, concisely and interactively – and it's the perfect way for young people to learn about all of the responsibilities that come with the job. The Babysitting Basics class covers a wide range of information that can help new babysitters gain the skills and confidence needed to care for infants and children. The course includes information on: How to care for infants and children What to do in an emergency and how to stay safe Choosing activities that are age appropriate Recognizing, understanding and handling certain behaviors Starting your babysitting business Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate that they can share with potential employers. This class will not fulfill the requirements for CPR, AED or First Aid certification.   • Basketball: Family Open Gym Pass

    Course Description This open gym basketball pass is for families looking to have fun and get a workout in. Pre-registration is required online and no drop-in passes are allowed. Open gyms are determined by a minimum number (5) paid prior to the open gyms starting. GENERAL RULES- -Ages 6 and under are not allowed due to safety issues. Youth ages 15 and under must be directly supervised by a responsible adult (21 years and older). -Please bring your own basketball with your name on it. No other balls will be allowed to play with during open gym (no football, volleyball, baseball, softball, soccer, etc). -Full Court games are NOT allowed unless approved by supervisor. No organized practices allowed. Baskets can be lowered if needed. -No kicking or throwing basketballs during open gym. No half court shots. -Kids must be directly supervised.     Course Description Join this dynamic course to learn a dynamite instrument! All {YEL!} guitar classes follow our basic components: Teach it!.. Players will learn the basics of music including reading music, rhythm, melody and meter. Practice It!.. Students will be provided musical exercises to reinforce basic concepts. Play It!.. Players will learn basic songs in various styles and there will be a mini-recital at the end of the session. Parent invited to attend. Let the music play!     Course Description This clinic is an intro into strength and conditioning program that emphasizes proper body weight exercises, weight lifting technique, core strength, flexibility, agility, speed, power and endurance. This program is designed to improve overall athletic ability that will enhance performance for all sports. Younger athletes will use little or no weight. PVC sticks will be used to perfect lifting technique.     Course Description Learn the best dance moves from the Johnston Varsity Dance Team! Dancers learn a short routine which they will perform on Friday, October 10th before the home varsity football game at JHS Football Stadium. All dancers receive a t-shirt to wear for the performance. Logistics Bring a water bottle with your name on it after school No snacks are provided during camp Wear clean, dry tennis shoes Friday, October 10 Performance Details Please have your child wear their camp t-shirt they received at camp. Have comfortable bottoms on (shorts, leggings of any color are fine) and wear tennis shoes. Please do not send dancers with additional clothing or water bottles. Child's hair- dancer's preference (pony tail, down, braided, etc.) Arrive at 5:30pm and participants should be brought in by parents at Door #2- Johnston High School Activities Entrance and meet in the cafeteria. Participants are arranged by their school with Beaver Creek on the left (north) side when looking at the track from the bleachers and Wallace being on the right (south) side with other schools in between. Participants perform before the start of the varsity game (approximately 6:25pm) Parents need to pick up dancers under the scoreboard at the south end zone when their performance is done.     Course Description Lace up and let’s run! Join the Dragon Girls Running Club and discover how fun, empowering, and energizing running can be. This club is designed for 6th grade girls who want to build confidence, make new friends, and stay active—all while learning the basics of pacing, teamwork, and goal-setting through fun running games, workouts, and group activities. Whether new to running or already love it, this is the chance to move, grow, and shine with fellow runners! -All participants will receive a club t-shirt and will celebrate their accomplishments by running in the Des Moines 5K Road Race on October 19.
