    Course Description NEW! ONE DAY CAMPS to fit busy schedules. Coach Kenton Tennal has been running or assisting basketball camps for nearly 2 decades. The goal of his camps is to provide each participant with a positive, fun-filled learning experience. The camp is designed to provide personal attention to help young athletes improve their basketball fundamentals and compete in small sided, modified 1 vs. 1 games.   • Basketball: Family Open Gym Pass

    Course Description This open gym basketball pass is for each child looking to have fun and get a workout in. Pre-registration is required online and no drop-in passes are allowed. Open gyms are determined by a minimum number (5) paid prior to the open gyms starting. GENERAL RULES- -Ages 6 and under are not allowed due to safety issues. Youth ages 15 and under must be directly supervised by a responsible adult (21 years and older). Those supervising and not participating are FREE. -Please bring your own basketball with your name on it. No other balls will be allowed to play with during open gym (no football, volleyball, baseball, softball, soccer, etc). -Full Court games are NOT allowed unless approved by supervisor. No organized practices allowed. Baskets can be lowered if needed. -No kicking or throwing basketballs during open gym. No half court shots. -Kids must be directly supervised.     Participants are placed on teams according to the registration questions and randomly. All games take place on Saturday mornings and/or early afternoons depending on the # of teams. Teams practice and play on Saturdays only at a Johnston Elementary School. Parent volunteer coaches are needed for each team. Two coaches are allowed per team. Lesson plans and rules are given to the coaches. Coaches meeting is- Date/Time To Be Determined. All players must have a reversible JYB jersey. These jerseys can be worn for as many years as your child participates in JYB and/or doesn't outgrow/misplace the jersey. DEADLINE FOR SESSION 1 IS OCTOBER 29 AT 12PM. DEADLINE FOR SESSION 2 IS DECEMBER 29 AT 12PM.     Course Description Join this fast-paced, inclusive (everyone participates) Olympic Sport. YEL’s Teach It, Practice It, Play It® approach teaches fencers new skills each class, practices those skills in kid-friendly fencing games, and then encourages students to use those skills in fencing bouts (matches).     Course Description This early childhood program teachers the basic fundamentals of Tae Kwon Do and Karate. The gym is down the hall to the right. Instructor Mr. Phil Dickey, has more than 30 years of martial arts teaching experience. Elementary teacher, a fourth Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo, Fifth Degree Black Belt Karate, and a 3-time Martial Arts Hall of Fame Inductee.

    Course Description Whether a quicker first step is needed, a faster change of direction, or improved footwork - working on speed and agility with Patrick Jackson will help each child get there! This clinic will focus on explosion, bursts, turn over and top end speed. As a defensive back for the Kohawk football team, Patrick was a two-time, First Team All-Iowa Conference honoree. He was named to the All-West Region first team by Don Hansen’s Football Gazette in 2002. With 213 career tackles, he is tied for ninth in school history with seven interceptions in 2001. He tied a school record with three career blocked kicks. In track, Patrick was a two-time All-American as a member of the 4x100-meter relay team, which finished fifth at the NCAA Championships in 2002 and 2003. After graduating, Patrick played semi-pro football for 12 years with the Sioux City Bandits, Cedar Valley Vikings, Iowa Lightning, and North Iowa Bucks, which inducted him into its hall of fame in 2016.

    Course Description Learn this Korean art of self-defense (includes Tae Kwon Do and Karate concepts) to improve health, balance, agility and poise.     Course Description This class is a wonderful transition between Toddler & Me and Ballet, Tap & Jazz class. The dancers do not have mom, dad or another loved one by their side during the class, so this class is great for children who will be able to participate in class on their own.
