Course Description This FREE basketball coaches clinic is an educational event offering on-court demonstrations by a local travel team. It covers a range of topics from warm-ups, fundamental drills, skill development, and offensive/defensive tactics for coaches of all levels. It's an optional clinic for JYB Rec League coaches but strongly recommended on the expectations of running a practice during the league. All those interested can attend and do not have to be from the Johnston School District. Course Description The goal of Coach T is to have camps that provide each participant with a positive, fun-filled learning experience. Open gyms are determined by a minimum number (5) paid prior to the open gyms starting. GENERAL RULES- -Ages 6 and under are not allowed due to safety issues. Youth ages 15 and under must be directly supervised by a responsible adult (21 years and older). -Please bring your own basketball with your name on it. No other balls will be allowed to play with during open gym (no football, volleyball, baseball, softball, soccer, etc). -Full Court games are NOT allowed unless approved by supervisor. No organized practices allowed. Baskets can be lowered if needed. -No kicking or throwing basketballs during open gym. No half court shots. -Kids must be directly supervised. Teams practice and play on Saturdays only at a Johnston Elementary School. Parent volunteer coaches are needed for each team. Two coaches are allowed per team. Lesson plans and rules are given to the coaches. Coaches meeting is- Date/Time To Be Determined. All players must have a reversible JYB jersey. These jerseys can be worn for as many years as your child participates in JYB and/or doesn't outgrow/misplace the jersey. DEADLINE FOR SESSION 1 IS OCTOBER 29 AT 12PM. Participants are placed on random teams, practice can be either on Wednesdays or Fridays at 6, 7 or 8pm, and play the games on Saturdays starting at 9am. Practices are limited to one hour. A Volunteer Coaches meeting is after the deadline with location/time announced later. Coaches can contact families with practice/game schedules after the meeting (also posted online). Jerseys are worn at each practice/game. Additional $17 fee if a jersey is needed. Teams are selected according to the questions asked during registration. No requests are taken to be with another child unless coaching together. Max of two coaches are allowed per team. All players must have a reversible JYB jersey. Course Description All levels are welcome to participate. Learn forehands, backhands, volleys, serves, and how to start the point. Improve on current game with extra touches. Lead-up games and activities for the younger kids and learning how to keep score and playing the actual game for the older participants. Beginners and Intermediates will be split by the instructors after the first day to allow for better growth in each individual.
