Description: Camp Kindergarten is a one-day program for JCSD kindergarteners who have the day off from school following their first two days of class! Students will participate in a variety of fun and enriching camp-themed activities throughout the day. Logistics: Camp Kindergarten will take place at the District Office, 6510 NW 62nd Ave, Johnston, IA 50131 Camp Kindergarten program hours: 9:00am-3:30pm Wrap-Around hours: Drop-Off: 7:30-9:00am Pick-Up: 3:30-5:30pm Students will be served a sack lunch (if needed) as well as morning and afternoon snacks. Course Description: Students will enjoy a fun experience creating their own canvas painting! They will be guided step-by-step by JCSD Art Teacher, Katie Black, to complete a chosen painting design. She loves the process of creativity and art-making with students of all ages and has previously taught at JMS, the Des Moines Art Center, and with Johnston Community Education.

Course Description: Participants are invited to enjoy a week of fun with their violin, viola, cello, or bass while exploring a variety of musical styles written for string players. Morning sessions include full ensemble rehearsals, individual and small-group instruction, and—based on interest—enrichment opportunities in vibrato, shifting, and conducting. Students provide their own instrument. Orchestra Club supplies the music, snacks, games, challenges, and prizes. Come for an end-of-camp performance at 11:00 a.m. on Friday in the Wallace Auditorium. She enjoys helping students grow their skills and confidence, whether they are just starting out or preparing for advanced performances. She has a B.S. in Music Education and an M.Ed. in Teaching & Learning. Kristin Sullivan has been playing the violin for over 30 years and loves passing that joy on to her students. She has taught violin, viola, and elementary music for more than a decade and is excited to inspire young musicians in the orchestra club.
