    Using a photograph of the lovely oak leaf in fall colors for reference, we will learn the techniques needed to draw with wax based colored pencil. We will describe the shape and color of nature’s finest designs. All tools and supplies will be provided to students for the workshop.   • Fitness Classes- Mornings with Andi

    Participants raise their heart rate and increase strength and endurance through a combination of cardiovascular exercise, strength training, and flexibility training. Be challenged everyday. Please try to show up at least 5-10 minutes before class to allow time for set-up. Wear good tennis shoes and athletic clothing. Instructor: Andi Feekes

    Must have completed a Beginners Course first. Come learn the rules of the game and skills needed to get started playing one of the fastest growing sports! This is a beginner course so pickleball equipment is available if needed including a paddle and ball. A good pair of court shoes is helpful.   • Tennis Lessons - Adult

    Group tennis lessons are available for adult players who want to learn fundamentals and basic strategy. Class start with all the basics and teach proper grips and strokes, including forehand, backhand, volley, overhead, serve and return. Rallying and scorekeeping with be taught. Participants should bring their own racket and a water bottle each day. Camp Director: Nicole Berger
  • Watercolor Painting 2

    This class focuses on color mixing. Participants will learn how to mix colors to keep them pure and darken colors without making mud. The color wheel will be used as a guide to pairing colors intentionally. All tools and equipment will be loaned to students for the workshop. Students will remove the paper at the end of the workshop and take home their paintings.   • Winter Beekeeping

    This class is for beekeepers with some experience. Topics are continually updated to include latest research on best practices and include fall mites, disease management, winter nutrition, evaluation, fall feeding, winter protection, emergency winter and spring feeding, and if there is time, a brief preview of Beekeeping 201, swarm management, spring flow, "supering", and making splits.     Winter Beekeeping Notes (Optional)

    Winter Beekeeping Notes: If you would like to purchase the presentation content delivered by our Beekeeping instructor, this is your option to do that. The presentation slides will be emailed to you 48 hours prior to the start of the Beekeeping class by Johnston Community Education. The presentation consists of approximately 75 PowerPoint slides. You will receive the file in a fillable-PDF format so that you have the option to print the notes and bring them with you OR bring a laptop to class and take notes right on the slides. This presentation was created by our instructor, Julia McGuire, for the Beekeeping class. She hopes that the notes will be a great resource for participants after the class ends, but also requests that you not share the notes with others who have not taken the class.
