  • Basketball Family Open Gym

    Please take the time to register online for this program. Register only once per season- and attend as much as you like. Once you are registered, you are on our check-in list. The purpose of this registration: - JCE has your contact information so we can communicate any changes to open gym dates/times - Your emergency contact information is stored within our system - Tracks the interest and attendance easier Two Options -Season Pass- pay one time online for entire season, still need to sign in each time at the gym door -Day Pass- $5 paid at the gym door, still need to sign in
  • Basketball: JYB Jersey

    Basketball jerseys are required to play in our Johnston Youth Basketball League running in November-February. Cost is $15. Please purchase if you don't already have one.
  • Basketball: JYB Junior League - Grade 1 Boys

    Participants are placed on teams according to the registration questions and randomly. All games take place on Saturday mornings and/or early afternoons depending on the # of teams. Teams practice and play on Saturdays only at a Johnston Elementary School. Parent volunteer coaches are needed for each team. Two coaches are allowed per team. Lesson plans and rules are given to the coaches. Coaches meeting is- Date/Time To Be Determined. All players must have a reversible JYB jersey.     New and returning students invited. Learn, Practice and Play chess each class. The {YEL!} Teach It! Practice It! Play It!® method keeps students on track with new chess lessons and puzzles each week as well as guided games and in-class tournaments.     Come join the JHS Dance Team for a morning of dancing and fun! Please wear comfortable clothes and clean, dry tennis shoes. Receive a free shirt and snack with registration. Meet the team, learn technique, and a dance to perform at the Showcase on Sunday, February 4 at 6pm. *PERFORMANCE/SHOWCASE INFORMATION: -When: Sunday February 4th - 6pm at Johnston Middle School -Wear: Black pants or shorts, clinic shirt and dance/tennis shoes. -Clinic participants are allowed into the show free of charge, parents will be required to purchase tickets at the door. Admission is $5. Participants will sit in the bleachers with their parents and will be excused prior to their performance. Once your child has performed you can pick them up.   • Dragon Girls HS Soccer Pre-Season Camp

    Clinic leader leads participants through training to get players ready for the season. This camp’s goal is to prepare high school girls for the demands of the upcoming season, both physically and mentally. Camp sessions will focus on physical, technical, tactical, and psychological training. This camp is open for any and all Iowa girls high school soccer players. Bring warmer clothing and outdoor shoes in case camp goes outside. Camp Director: Eric Shafer
  • Dragon Softball Clinic

    Johnston Head Softball Coach Todd Merical along with his staff and players from the Johnston High School squad will be working with the participants, illustrating fundamental skills and drills in hitting, fielding, catching, and throwing. Coach Merical and the clinic staff members are excited to meet players and their parents in the community to discuss softball mechanics, fundamentals, and philosophies. There will be hands-on help from many of the current players as they work on the skills right along with you. Mark it on your calendar, come out and get a jump on your softball season! Please wear clean, dry shoes, comfortable clothing and bring your bat and glove if you have one. Cage masks are optional to wear.

    Clinic is led by JHS Girls Soccer Coach Eric Shafer and JHS Boys Soccer Coach Jim Frizzell. Participants work on technical soccer training and play soccer activities and games. Please bring a soccer ball (if you have one), water bottle with name, and clean shoes.

YEL’s Teach It, Practice It, Play It® approach teaches fencers new skills each class, practices those skills in kid-friendly fencing games, and then encourages students to use those skills in fencing bouts (matches).
