Lifeguard Training - BlendedAquatics CoursesTake the plunge and become a certified Lifeguard! We are excited to offer you American Red Cross Lifeguarding Blended Learning. Blended learning combines online learning with in-person skills sessions where you will practice skills and demonstrate competency. Please plan to complete all eLearning modules, including the CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid final eLearning exam, at least two days prior to your first in-person skills session. Most participants complete the eLearning portion of the course in approximately 7 hours. Your experience may vary widely based on several factors including your PC, internet speed and previous training. I recommend beginning the online session as soon as possible to ensure that you are able to complete all eLearning modules prior to the first in-person skill session. Access the eLearning content through your email once the class registration deadline has passed. You will be prompted to set up an account or long into an existing American Red Cross Learning Center account to access the course. Participants must be able to pass the prerequisites: 300yd swim, timed brick dive, and 2 minute water tread with no hands. If students are unsure whether or not they can pass this, please reach out to Olivia Stephenson prior to the first in-person day of the course to schedule a practice test. If a student does not pass the prerequisite, they will not be able to move on with the class. Participants must attend Registration deadline is 2/29/23 to ensure participants have enough time to complete the online course. Parents should include the students email address (not a school email address) as the American Red Cross account for completing the online course needs to link up to the students email, not the parents. All questions regarding this course should be directed to Olivia Stephenson at olivia.stephenson@johnston.k12.ia.us.Winter 2023
