FIRST LEGO League: Cargo Connect
Transportation drives us forward – impacting economies, bridging cultures, and making us all more globally interconnected. In 2021-2022 FIRST LEGO League’s CARGO CONNECT, participants will learn how cargo is transported, sorted, and delivered to its destinations. We’re driving FIRST FORWARD: Full Speed Ahead! In FIRST LEGO League, you’ll be challenged to design and program a EV3 LEGO robot to compete in an exciting two and half minute robot match. More importantly, you’ll practice awesome skills like problem-solving, collaboration, creativity, and innovation while working with your team to perfect your core values and create real-world solutions to a well researched shipping-related problem. The season will culminate in a FIRST LEGO League Regional Qualifier where your team will compete with other FLL teams from across the state. There are various locations and dates for the FLL Regional Qualifiers, but we strongly recommended all Johnston Community Education FIRST LEGO League teams attend the Johnston FLL Regional Qualifier at Summit Middle School. FLL team sizes must be between 6 and 8 students. JCE will do our best to field FLL teams with students from the same school, but in the case of small teams, students from different schools will be combined. Practice duration, dates, and times will be determined by the team’s coach and will then be communicated to the rest of the team. Most teams will practice 2 times per week. Practices begin as early as the week of September 7.All teams will practice at the Johnston District Office at 6510 NW 62nd Ave. Registration Deadline: Sunday, August 29 (A late registration fee of $20 will be added to all registrations AFTER 8/29) This program relies on volunteer parent coaches! No LEGO or robotics experience necessary. We will provide you with all of the tools and support you need to be successful. Up to TWO Head Coaches per team will have 50% of their registration fee refunded to them at the successful completion of the season.
