From hitting fitness goals to learning new skills and crafts, Johnston Community Education provides a variety of Adult classes for all ages and all interests.
Learn to swim, take to the diving boards, prepare for the Blaze Swim Club, or enroll in a lifeguard training course. Johnston Aquatics has classes for students of all ages and interests. Aqua Aerobic courses offered for adults.
The Johnston Early Learning Academy offers programs for 2-, 3-, and 4-year-olds preparing for elementary education.
Before/after school and no school day care during the school year for JCSD students in grades DK-5. Summer full day care during the summer for all students in grades DK-6.
From Mad Science to youth basketball and so much, Johnston youth are invited to participate in one our Community Education's numerous programs.

-Coach Shafer was the Johnston Girls Soccer Head Coach from 2020-2025. Prior to leading the girls team, Coach Shafer assisted the Johnston Boys Soccer Team for four seasons. In Spring 2023, the Dragons won the Iowa High School Girls Class 3A State Championship and finished 16-4. Coach Shafer was also named 2023 Large Public Iowa Coach of the Year with United Soccer Coaches and for the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. He currently teaches Physical Education at Johnston Middle School.
