  • Aqua Aerobics

    Water exercise is a fun way to work out! Participants will be led through a fun and energizing workout in 4-6ft of water that can be modified at any point. Students will use things like noodles and hand-held buoys to do muscle strengthening movements in the water. The resistance of the water offers exercise that can be gentle on joints but still as intense as exercising on land. This class is a perfect way to cross train, get an intense workout, or simply get some movement in for the day! Students should bring a water shoes (optional), water bottle, a towel, and swim suit to class. Participants should enter the pool through the Summit Pool entrance door #20. Once inside, participants can utilize the locker rooms and meet under the scoreboard before class begins. Please arrive early if it is your first time joining us! Instructors: Tammy (Monday and Wednesday) and Olivia (Tuesday and Thursday)
  • Introduction to Competitive Swimming

    Introduction to Competitive Swimming is a transitional class that bridges the gap between swimming lessons and competitive swim team. This class will teach freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, flip turns, and racing starts. Each class will focus on one technique per class to help students learn the skills needed for competitive swimming. Swimmers should come into the class already able to swim a minimum of 25 yards on their front or back and be comfortable in deep water. At the end of the class, the instructors will evaluate each student to determine if they are ready for swim team or if they need to continue with the Intro program. Swimmers should arrive through the Summit Pool Entrance door #20 at Summit Middle School. There are locker rooms inside the pool area and public restrooms in the hallway. Swimmers should meet the coaches on the bleachers underneath the scoreboard. Parents are welcome to watch the class from the bleacher seating area in the stands. Instructor: Summit Pool Staff
  • Lap Swim

    Open lap swim for anyone interested in exercising in the pool. Lap swimmers must stay in one lane and actively exercise during their time in the water. Swimmers may be required to share lanes. Swimmers may borrow kickboards and pull buoys from Summit equipment cages. Participants should enter through Summit Pool door #20. Pool location is 9500 Windsor Parkway Johnston IA 50131. Locker rooms are available. Punch cards and day passes are available for purchase at the pool for $5 per swim or $25 per punch card good for 5 swims and a waiver must be signed.
