    Private Band Lessons with Jennifer Tylavsky

    Course Description Participants will receive personalized instruction towards continued growth in band. Dig into the finer details of performing on individual instruments. Students will work out of a lesson book to build up fundamental playing, or on honor band and all-state audition materials. Each lesson is 30 minutes in length. 1 student per timeslot. No make up lessons. Exception: If the instructor cancels a lesson for some reason - that lesson will be rescheduled. Lessons that participants fail to show up for will not be rescheduled. If students have a schedule conflict due to attending a Dragon band camp, an alternate lesson time can be arranged with the instructor for that week only. Logistics Students must provide their own instrument. Instructor: Jennifer Tylavsky Jennifer Tylavsky has been teaching instrumental music for 31 years, the last three here in Johnston. She enjoys helping students grow as musicians and people. She also loves hiking, reading, and spending time with her family.

    Course Description: Students can choose PIANO or VOICE lessons! Voice Lessons (students entering 8th-12th grade only): Participants will receive personalized instruction that helps them strengthen technique, musicality, and build repertoire. Students will work one-on-one with the instructor to choose songs, as well create goals specific to their needs. Piano Lessons (students entering 1st-12th grade): Students will develop musical confidence through the theory and ear training provided by piano instruction. Reading music and developing performance proficiency will be the primary focus of lessons, while more advanced students will dig into the finer details of theory and performing.     Course Description Sweet summer projects! A comfy pair of shorts, a water bottle bag, criss-cross headband and more. Students will make, showcase, and take home all projects. Hand and machine sewing techniques are taught with SAFETY FIRST always in mind. The final day is a showcase where friends and family are invited to see the projects in action. Course Description Whether a quicker first step is needed, a faster change of direction, or improved footwork - working on speed and agility with Patrick Jackson will help each child get there! This clinic will focus on explosion, bursts, turn over and top end speed. Logistics Enter through Door #9 Bring water bottle/jug with name on it Instructor Patrick Jackson was a football and track star at Coe College. As a defensive back for the Kohawk football team, Patrick was a two-time, First Team All-Iowa Conference honoree. He was named to the All-West Region first team by Don Hansen’s Football Gazette in 2002. With 213 career tackles, he is tied for ninth in school history with seven interceptions in 2001. He tied a school record with three career blocked kicks. In track, Patrick was a two-time All-American as a member of the 4x100-meter relay team, which finished fifth at the NCAA Championships in 2002 and 2003. After graduating, Patrick played semi-pro football for 12 years with the Sioux City Bandits, Cedar Valley Vikings, Iowa Lightning, and North Iowa Bucks, which inducted him into its hall of fame in 2016.
