  • Drone Racing

    Course Description Students will learn how to fly like the pros in the Drone Racing League by training on a flight simulator! Drone Racing incorporates a digital drone racing simulator with tutorials and challenges on the computer to prepare students to fly and compete with real drones. After learning the basics of drone flying, safety and maintenance, students will assemble a drone and take to the skies to compete in exciting races and challenges. Led by experienced instructors, students will leave camp with the skills and knowledge to pilot their drones and keep them running. The drones used in camps have cameras and are perfect for entry level pilots. Students have the option to purchase a drone to take home at the end of camp for $50 (approximately a $100 value).     Come enjoy a class where students will make a sourdough starter and put together a batter for a rustic sourdough loaf! All consumable supplies for this class are provided, including a glass jar for the starter and instructions for feeding. Participants will prepare a rustic loaf in class using the instructor's starter to take home to enjoy!     Course Description Magicamp is for anyone who likes to have fun! New and returning magicians will enjoy learning and refining their skills.     Course Description Learn pickleball quick! The shots focused on will be dinks, volleys, serves, and returns. By the end of the week participants will be able to play a match, understand scoring, and where to stand on the court. Beginner- The players learn the basic strokes. The strokes include serve, return, forehand, backhand, dink, and volley. The players learn where to stand on the court and how to score. Intermediate - The players learn strategy, grips, and spins. The players practice implementing the new strokes and placement in live play. Students will work out of a lesson book to build up fundamental playing, or on honor band and all-state audition materials. Each lesson is 30 minutes in length. 1 student per timeslot. No make up lessons. Exception: If the instructor cancels a lesson for some reason - that lesson will be rescheduled. Lessons that participants fail to show up for will not be rescheduled. If students have a schedule conflict due to attending a Dragon band camp, an alternate lesson time can be arranged with the instructor for that week only. Logistics Students must provide their own instrument. There will be lessons on July 3. No lessons on July 17. Instructor: Elinor Barnwell Elinor Barnwell is the 5th grade band teacher at Wallace and Lawson Elementaries. She has 3 years of previous experience with elementary, middle, and high school bands. Elinor's primary instrument is flute, and she loves helping students grow in their excitement and knowledge of music!

    Course Description Sweet summer projects! A comfy pair of shorts, a water bottle bag, criss-cross headband and more. Students will make, showcase, and take home all projects. Hand and machine sewing techniques are taught with SAFETY FIRST always in mind. The final day is a showcase where friends and family are invited to see the projects in action.
