Take the plunge and become lifeguard certified! This training teaches the knowledge and skills to save a life. Participants must be able to pass a 300 yard swim, timed brick dive, and 2 minutes of treading water without the use of their arms to continue the course. There is also an online component to the course that must be completed by the end of the last in person course date. The online course will come to the student in an email directly from the American Red Cross. Please be sure that the course instructor has an email address for the student, not the parent prior to April 14th. Please send the students email address to olivia.stephenson@johnston.k12.ia.us. The online course takes approximately 7 hours to complete.
