Students will learn the basics of board game design as they create their very own board game! This creative and exciting program uses elements of STEAM to break down a big project into bite sized pieces for students to make a playable board game.

Course includes a design journal, board game box, board, and all the bits & pieces needed to play! Over 6 quick weeks, board game builders will learn about crucial parts of board game design such as rules, board types, what all the pieces are and much more. While each week is crucial to the board game building process, if a child misses a week, we have strategies available to help catch them up to the group. Below is a breakdown of our board game building program.

Week 1: Theme & Backstory
Week 2: The Board in Board Games
Week 3: Bits, Meeples & Pieces, Oh My!
Week 4: Rules and Their Importance
Week 5: Visual Strategies & Play-Testing
Week 6: Finishing Touches & The Pitch! (Parents are invited to the final 20 minutes of class to see their student present their game!)

While the program teaches young minds how to build a board game, the aim of this program is to inspire the next generation to take a step away from being consumers in order to be creators, makers and designers.
