Swimmers will learn diving, elementary backstroke, dolphin kick, and breaststroke kick. All classes will be in deep water for this course. Swimmers will start to learn butterfly, breaststroke, and side stroke. Level 5 students will progress on skills learned in the previous level and learn to swim farther distances. Swimmers will also learn advanced techniques such as swimming underwater, treading without the use of their hands, and flip turns. Swimmers will learn the other competitive strokes, breaststroke and butterfly, as well as flip turns, open turns, and starts, depending on the learning pace of the class. Classes will include strength, cardio, balance, and stretching components. This class is in the shallow end of the pool standing in 4-5 feet of water. </p>Blaze Dry Land Traininghttp://johnston.ce.eleyo.com/course/3216/spring-2024/blaze-dry-land-training2024-02-19T00:00:00-06:00<p>This course is for any Blaze Swim Club member (past or present) who are looking to increase their strength, speed, and mental focus for swimming. Dry land training is essential to swimming fast and participants in the dry land course will have the opportunity to participate in four different dry land sessions; Yoga and Mental Training, Speed and Agility, Strength, and Games. The workout sessions will be designed by a certified Group Fitness Instructor with a Bachelors in Kinesiology and led by Blaze Staff members. Swimmers will walk away with a packet of stretches and exercises to do in their own at home, they will learn how to be better mentally focused, deal with pre-race anxiety, develop a stronger core, and improve their cardiovascular system. </p>
